Sometimes you can learn more from a silent film shot by amateurs than you can from a fully produced propaganda film by professionals. This remarkable compilation film shows the beginning of the National Socialist Party in Baden. 1933: Nazi leaders arrive in Baden. March 8, 1933: The Nazi leader, Wagner, takes over the city. But the people of "Oeschelbonn" need Hitler himself to lead them. He arrives, and rebuilds the burned and ruined city. March 25, 1934: Wagner is present at a review of the Elite Guard. 1935: The city of Heidelberg holds its mountain festival. March 7, 1936: German infantry and artillery appear on the Upper Rhine. The city of Karlsruhe, where 60,000 people hear Hitler. March 26, 1936: Goering pays a visit and speaks. April 16 - 18, 1939: At Karlsruhe, a large meeting of the Nazi Party. Civilians and soldiers, women workers, youth and laborers come to Karlsruhe. The natives welcome them in festival garb. A parade starts. Rudolph Hess arrives and addresses a huge crowd. The marchers goose step past Wagner and Hess. Of the 20,000 Nazi Party members present, each unit is led forward while the leader speaks to Hess and the unit marches on, the leader joining the reviewers. Hess welcomes the SA, the Labor Unit, the NSKK, the political leaders, the Hitler Youth, and the SS.
